We have on display a Daikin VAM Heat Recovery unit. In today’s well insulated and tightly sealed buildings it is important to replace stale air with fresh “tempered” air.
Opening a window at any time of year is extremely energy wasteful as in the winter heat is simply lost and replaced with cold air and in the summer an open window allows the escape of cooled air conditioned air to be replace with hot outside air.
An energy efficient heat transfer system introduces fresh air into the room while exchanging a high percentage of the energy into the incoming air. At the same time the air is filtered removing a high proportion of air born allergens, helping people to cope with asthma and other respiratory illnesses.
Also because the air is constantly changed levels of humidity are reduced and CO2 levels are brought back to optimum levels.
There is no mixing of air flows – only the transfers of heat or cooling.
- The Daikin VAM system can be installed in a false ceiling or under the floor.
- The heat exchange element uses a High Efficiency Paper that has superior moisture-absorption and humidifying properties.
- The heat exchange between exhaust and supply air is arranged automatically. This results in a considerable energy loss reduction.
- Because of the automatic heat exchange there is 28% less load on the air-conditioning system. This results in a lighter (thus cheaper) overall air conditioning installation.
- The exchange in heat reduces the energy consumption of the air conditioning system. And in mid-season the ventilation system can work independently and thus replace the air-conditioning system.
- The unit can work in two modes:
- Total heat exchange mode In total heat exchange mode the ventilator exchanges the heat between the exhaust air (from indoor) and the supply air (from outdoor) by means of a heat exchange element. This avoids cold draught when the outdoor air is colder than the indoor air.
- Bypass mode In bypass mode the ventilator will not exchange heat between exhaust and supply air by means of bypassing the heat exchange element. The outdoor air is brought directly into the room.
- The unit can work in two modes:
- The centralised remote control allows the user to choose a wide range of control systems that integrate air conditioning and ventilation.
FRESH-UP operation
Both the excessive supply mode and the excessive exhaust mode are selectable. This function allows the VAM to create a more comfortable air environment whether the occupied space is required to be pressurised or de-pressurised.
